Property Design and Natural Setting

Veda5 Rishikesh is thoughtfully designed as a luxury wellness retreat where contemporary comfort blends naturally with the Himalayan landscape. Set into the gentle slopes of the Rishikesh hills, the property is surrounded by lush greenery, forested mountain views and the expansive Himalayan valley, creating a sense of privacy and tranquillity from the moment guests arriveThe guest rooms combine modern comforts with private balconies, allowing guests to sit back and take in the mountain scenery, while the property also features specially designed spaces. The natural setting is an important part of the Veda5 experience. Yoga spaces overlooking the valley, walking trails, landscaped outdoor areas, a swimming pool with scenic views and quiet spaces for meditation and relaxation allow guests to experience wellness in close connection with nature. The retreat’s dining and communal spaces continue the same design language, combining natural materials, warm interiors and an inviting atmosphere, while the property’s own farm contributes fresh produce to its Ayurvedic kitchen. Rather than separating the wellness experience from its surroundings, Veda5 brings Ayurveda, yoga, relaxation and everyday living together within a peaceful Himalayan environment where nature, comfort and wellness become part of the same stay.

Wellness Philosophy

Experienced Ayurvedic physicians conduct comprehensive consultations to evaluate Prakriti (body constitution), Dosha imbalances, digestive health, lifestyle, medical history and personal wellness goals. Based on these findings, a personalised programme is created that may include classical Panchakarma therapies, Ayurvedic herbal medicines, therapeutic massages, yoga, pranayama, meditation and customised nutrition. Treatments are continuously reviewed and refined throughout the guest's stay to ensure they remain aligned with the individual's progress and changing therapeutic needs. This personalised approach reflects Ayurveda's timeless philosophy of restoring balance within the body, mind and spirit rather than focusing solely on disease management.

Accommodation

Veda5 offers comfortable, well-appointed rooms designed around the natural beauty and tranquillity of its Himalayan setting. The rooms feature contemporary interiors, comfortable king-size beds, elegant furnishings, modern amenities and large windows that allow ample natural light into the space. Private balconies extend the living experience outdoors, offering peaceful views of the surrounding greenery and forested Himalayan landscape. A thoughtful spiritual touch can also be found in every room, with a copy of the Bhagavad Gita placed for guests, reflecting the retreat’s connection with India’s traditional wisdom and contemplative way of living. Together, the modern comforts, scenic surroundings and mindful details create a calm and restorative space for guests to relax between wellness sessions.

Diet and Dining

Nutrition is considered an essential component of healing at Veda5 Rishikesh. The retreat serves freshly prepared vegetarian meals made using wholesome ingredients, seasonal produce and vegetables sourced in part from its own farm. At Veda5, dining is thoughtfully woven into the wellness experience, with a pure vegetarian, Ayurvedic-inspired approach to nourishment. The spacious dining area has a warm, distinctive character, featuring natural wood, handcrafted décor and large windows that bring the surrounding greenery into the dining experience. Guests are served fresh and wholesome vegetarian preparations, complemented by a variety of Ayurvedic juice shots, herbal and detox beverages, dosha-inspired drinks and copper-enriched water, reflecting Veda5’s emphasis on mindful and balanced nutrition. For guests following Ayurveda or Panchakarma programmes, meals can be adapted according to individual wellness requirements under Ayurvedic guidance, making dining not simply a meal, but a meaningful part of the retreat experience.

Wellness Activities

Guests begin their mornings with yoga, pranayama and meditation before attending personalised Ayurvedic consultations and therapies throughout the day. Between treatments, the peaceful Himalayan surroundings provide opportunities for quiet reflection, mindful walks and relaxation amidst nature. The retreat's combination of authentic Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, naturopathy, nutritious dining and serene mountain landscapes creates a holistic wellness experience that encourages lasting lifestyle transformation rather than temporary relaxation.

Sustainability & Guest Guidelines

Veda5 Rishikesh is located within the Rajaji National Park landscape, and the retreat's guest guidelines place emphasis on maintaining a peaceful environment that respects the surrounding natural setting. Guests are expected to follow the retreat's wellness routines and prescribed diet during structured programmes, while smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited within the retreat. Loud music and DJ activities are not permitted, and the property avoids generator use between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, helping maintain a quieter environment, particularly at night. Guests are also advised to arrive before 8:00 PM during the monsoon season because of possible landslide-related travel disruptions. Treatments are available to resident guests and are finalised after consultation with the Ayurveda doctor, with guests encouraged to complete the preliminary assessment and carry relevant medical reports where available. More about Veda5 Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat Rishikesh

Dining at Veda5 is an integral part of the wellness experience, built around the principles of Sattvic Ayurveda and mindful nourishment. The cuisine is completely Sattvic and purely vegetarian, with meals prepared to support a calm, balanced and wholesome lifestyle. Rather than treating food simply as part of the stay, Veda5 considers nutrition an important component of the healing journey, with the kitchen working in alignment with Ayurvedic principles and the guidance of the Ayurveda team.

The retreat places strong emphasis on fresh, natural and wholesome ingredients, including produce from its own farm . The Sattvic approach focuses on clean, nourishing vegetarian food prepared with an emphasis on freshness, balance and ease of digestion. Alongside regular meals, guests can experience a selection of Ayurvedic and herbal beverages, detox drinks and wellness-oriented refreshments that complement the retreat's overall philosophy of mindful living.

For guests undertaking structured Ayurveda and Panchakarma programmes, food becomes part of the personalised wellness plan. Meals are customised and prescribed according to the guest's individual Ayurvedic requirements and the treatment programme, under the guidance of the Ayurveda doctors. This ensures that diet works alongside therapies, yoga and other wellness practices rather than being treated as a separate aspect of the retreat. Panchakarma guests, in particular, receive programme-specific prescribed meals as part of their stay.

The dining environment itself reflects Veda5's distinctive character. The spacious restaurant features warm wooden interiors, handcrafted Indian-inspired décor and a welcoming atmosphere, creating a relaxed setting in which guests can enjoy their meals. The presentation of Ayurvedic drinks, dosha-inspired beverages and fresh vegetarian preparations further connects the dining experience with the retreat's wellness philosophy. Overall, Veda5's completely Sattvic, vegetarian cuisine brings together Ayurvedic principles, fresh produce, personalised nutrition and mindful eating, making food an important and meaningful part of the overall wellness journey.

A distinctive feature of the dining experience is the inclusion of Ayurvedic Cooking Classes and Wellness Nutrition Sessions, allowing guests to understand the principles of mindful eating and therapeutic nutrition.

Surrounded by the Himalayan foothills, lush forests, and panoramic valley views, the retreat offers a peaceful setting that naturally encourages reflection and inner calm.

Guests can participate in Morning Mantra Chanting, Yoga, Pranayama, Guided Meditation, Ayurveda Talks, Wellness Workshops, and Cooking Demonstrations, all designed to enrich the retreat experience beyond therapies alone. Scenic walking paths and open-air wellness spaces allow guests to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains while embracing a slower and more mindful pace of life.

The retreat also serves as a gateway to the spiritual and cultural attractions of Rishikesh. Guests can experience the Ganga Aarti, Lakshman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Beatles Ashram, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, and numerous ashrams and meditation centres that have made Rishikesh a globally recognised wellness destination. The combination of spirituality, wellness, and nature creates a truly immersive leisure experience.  Leisure experiences and sightseeing activities includes an additional charge.

Veda5 brings together Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga and Meditation within one integrated wellness environment, allowing guests to approach wellbeing through multiple complementary traditions. The Ayurvedic centre forms an important part of the retreat, with experienced Ayurvedic physicians beginning the journey with individual consultation and assessment of Prakriti and dosha balance. Based on this assessment, treatments, diet, medicines, yoga and supportive practices are planned according to the guest's individual needs rather than following a standardised routine.

The Ayurveda centre offers a range of traditional therapies, including Abhyanga, Snehana, Swedanam, Shirodhara, Pizhichil, Udhwartana, Patra Potli, Nasya and Netra Tarpan, along with structured Panchakarma programmes where appropriate. Depending on the programme and physician's assessment, guests may receive therapies such as Vasti, Vaman and Virechan as part of a supervised detoxification process. The focus is on traditional Ayurvedic principles of cleansing, rejuvenation, restoring balance and supporting healthier lifestyle patterns, with treatments selected according to each individual's condition and constitution.

Alongside Ayurveda, Veda5 has a dedicated Naturopathy approach, bringing natural and non-invasive wellness practices into the overall retreat experience. Naturopathy complements the Ayurvedic treatments by focusing on the relationship between lifestyle, nutrition, movement, rest and the body's natural processes. This integrated approach is particularly suited to guests looking for detoxification, relaxation, lifestyle correction and holistic wellness rather than a treatment experience limited to therapies alone.

Yoga and meditation are equally central to the Veda5 experience. Guided by experienced teachers, guests participate in yoga practices, pranayama, meditation and other mind-body practices designed to support physical flexibility, mental relaxation, awareness and inner balance. Yoga can also be incorporated more therapeutically into individual wellness programmes depending on the guest's needs. Together, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga and Meditation create the distinctive Veda5 wellness model—combining traditional Indian healing knowledge with personalised treatments, mindful movement, nutrition and the restorative influence of the Himalayan surroundings.

WellnessLoka Reviews

Veda5 Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat, Rishikesh

An editorial review

Rishikesh does something to people.

The Ganga comes down out of the mountains here, cool and green. Ashrams stacked up the hillsides, bells at dawn, the smell of woodsmoke and marigold, thousands of people who came in 1974 and are somehow still here. The Beatles turned up in 1968 and the place has been the yoga capital of the world ever since.

Veda5 sits above all of it, in the forested foothills, looking out over the valley.

The property describes itself in fairly clinical language, but what you will actually experience here is a modern wellness retreat with a genuine Ayurvedic programme running through it. Yoga, meditation, mantra, naturopathy, therapeutic food, treatment rooms, mountain air, and a slower way of moving through a day.

For a great many people, that is precisely the right thing.

The Location

The property occupies a beautiful pocket of the foothills, forest on three sides, mountains beyond, valley views that open up in the afternoon when the haze lifts. Rooms have private balconies, and you'll be spending a lot of time looking out yours. .

A genuinely extraordinary place ten minutes down the road. Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat. Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula swaying over the river. The Beatles Ashram, half-reclaimed by jungle and covered in murals. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple up in the hills. This is not a retreat where the surroundings are wallpaper.

What holds it back from the very top tier is simply that Rishikesh is a working spiritual town, not a private cove. There is traffic on the approach, there are crowds at the ghats in the evening. It is a lovely setting. It is not a silent one.

Veda5 opened in 2016 on a stated philosophy of Nature Meets Luxury Meets Wellness, and that ordering is about right.

Your stay begins with a real consultation. An Ayurvedic physician assesses your Prakriti (constitution), dosha imbalances, digestion, medical history, lifestyle and what you are actually hoping to achieve. From that comes a personalised plan reviewed and adjusted as you go.

Veda5 is not operating in a clinical ayurveda level, and does not need to be. Its programmes are built for detoxification, stress, weight, rejuvenation and preventive wellness, not for managing diagnosed chronic disease under daily physician supervision.

Naturopathy sits alongside Ayurveda in the offering, which tells you something too. This is holistic wellness with Ayurvedic foundations, delivered well.

Where this matters: if you are arriving with rheumatoid arthritis, a spinal condition or an autoimmune diagnosis and expecting a fourteen-day clinical intervention, this is the wrong property and we would steer you to Kerala. If you are arriving stressed, heavy, depleted, sleeping badly, or simply aware that something in your life needs to change this is a very good place to do something about it.

The Programmes

Four signature journeys, and they are the clearest thing on the property:

  • Kayakalpa; rejuvenation and de-stress
  • Samshuddhi; Ayurvedic detox
  • Sthoola Hara; weight management
  • Classical Panchakarma; cleansing and healing

Each combines treatments, therapeutic diet, yoga, meditation and lifestyle guidance. Durations and charges are set individually rather than sold as fixed packages, so the conversation about what you actually need happens before you pay.

The treatment range is broad and properly classical: Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Nasya, Udvartana, Kati Basti, Netra Tarpana, Patra Potli, herbal steam therapies and Panchakarma cleansing procedures. Netra Tarpana (a pool of medicated ghee held over the eyes in a ring of dough) is one of those treatments that sounds alarming and turns out to be among the most quietly restorative things anyone will ever do to you.

The Rooms

Contemporary, comfortable, calm. Neutral palettes, good natural light, modern amenities, and that balcony.

The architecture is pleasant rather than distinguished. Rooms are a decent size and well kept, the property is maintained to a good standard throughout and cleanliness is reliably high. Privacy is adequate rather than absolute; you are in a building with other guests and may experience some distraction and lack of privacy.

We would call it comfortable, contemporary and well-run.

The Food

Pure vegetarian, fresh, and built around Ayurvedic and yogic principles, seasonal produce, some of it from the retreat's own organic farm, plus healing spices, herbal infusions and detox drinks that arrive at intervals through the day.

The doctors work with the kitchen, and dishes are aligned to your dosha and your programme. In practice this means the food is Ayurvedically appropriate and served in common.

It is good, clean, genuinely therapeutic food. The Ayurvedic cooking classes and nutrition sessions are a real highlight.

Your Day

Mornings start early and start well: mantra chanting, yoga, pranayama, guided meditation as the valley comes up out of the mist. Then consultation and treatment. Then a long, open afternoon.

Ayurveda talks, wellness workshops and cooking demonstrations run through the week, and there are walking paths and open-air spaces across the property for the hours in between.

There is no rolling cultural activity calendar, no alternate-evening performance schedule, no curated entertainmen, the days are structured around treatment, practice and rest, and the gaps between are genuinely yours to fill. Some guests find that the whole point. Others hit day five and start looking for something to do.

Which brings us to the town.

Rishikesh IS the leisure programme

The real answer to those open afternoons is that you are staying in one of the most compelling small places in India, and you should go and be in it.

The evening Ganga Aarti; lamps, chanting, the river carrying flame away downstream is one of those experiences that flattens even hardened travellers. The two great suspension bridges, Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula, are worth crossing simply for the view up the gorge. The Beatles Ashram is strange and beautiful and half-swallowed by forest. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a proper hill drive with a proper reward. Beyond that: ashrams, meditation centres, riverside cafés, and the general spectacle of a town where nobody thinks it odd to be working on themselves.

One thing to budget for: leisure experiences and sightseeing are charged separately, not included in programme rates. Plan and price the excursions you want at the time of booking rather than discovering them as line items at checkout.

Know Before Booking

This is wellness, not clinical care. Excellent for stress, detox, weight, fatigue and rejuvenation. Not the right choice for managing a serious diagnosed condition.

Sightseeing costs extra. Ask for the excursion menu and rates before you arrive.

Rishikesh is dry and vegetarian. The city prohibits alcohol and meat as a matter of religious observance, and the property is pure vegetarian throughout. This is not a rule you can negotiate around locally.

Getting there. Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) is the nearest, roughly 35 km; Delhi is the usual international entry point, around five to six hours by road. .

The town is a working pilgrimage centre. Crowds at the ghats, traffic on the approach roads, and a general liveliness that is part of the appeal rather than a flaw.

Seasons

Rishikesh sits at the foot of the Himalayas and has real seasons; hot late spring, an active monsoon through the summer, and clear, cool, beautiful autumn and winter months. Broadly, October to April is the window most guests want, with the winter weeks genuinely cold and genuinely lovely.

Our Reccomendations

Veda5 is a good retreat in an outstanding place, and it knows what it is for.

Come here to unwind something that has been wound too tight for too long. Come for a detox or a reset you actually intend to follow through on, for a weight programme with real structure behind it, or simply for two weeks of early mornings, mountain air, clean food and a body that starts to feel like yours again. The consultations are proper, the treatment range is authentically classical, the setting is beautiful, and the town below you is one of the great spiritual destinations on earth.

Come with the right expectations about the rest. The rooms are comfortable rather than luxurious. The food is therapeutic and the evenings are quiet, the sightseeing is extra, and the Ayurveda is wellness-grade rather than hospital-grade.

Set against that: very few wellness retreats anywhere can offer you a sunrise yoga practice over a Himalayan valley and Ganga Aarti at dusk in the same day.

We had some of the best days of our lives at Veda5. Every meal was OUTSTANDING. Any given meal we had during our stay was one of the best we had in India. As a lifelong meat eater, I was worried about eating vegetarian only. I was proven wrong with every bite I took. And I felt great and energized the entire time. Everyone of the staff is so kind. Shoutout to Vivek, Dr. Sakshi, and of course Chef Devendra and the whole kitchen team. Daily Ayurvedic treatments + food + clean room and beautiful location all included
