Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital / 21 Nights Fissure Treatment Program

Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital / 21 Nights Fissure Treatment Program
Value Hospital in a Hospital Setting | Healing & Wellness Property
India / Kerala / Kochi - River

Year of Establishment: 2004

Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is an Ayurveda and Panchakarma healthcare institution established in 2004 by Dr. P. K. Lathika at Elookkara, Aluva, Ernakulam, Kerala, on the banks of the Periyar River. The hospital combines classical Ayurvedic healthcare with Yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and personalised Ayurvedic nutrition, functioning as a clinically oriented residential Ayurveda facility rather than solely as a leisure wellness retreat. The institution is NABH accredited, ISO 9001:2015 certified, empanelled under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and recognised as a Green Leaf Centre by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala. It is also an authorised medical centre for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The hospital provides 24 residential beds and offers clinical services covering Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma, spinal and joint rehabilitation, conservative orthopaedics and pain management, women's health and infertility, pre- and post-natal care, child health and developmental disorders, clinical Yoga, diet and nutrition, and holistic wellness and stress management. Its approach emphasises individualised treatment based on Ayurvedic assessment and Prakruthi, with contemporary medical and rehabilitation methods incorporated where clinically appropriate.

Property Design and Landscape

Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is situated at Elookkara, Muppathadam, Aluva, with the Periyar River and its broad riverside setting forming a defining element of the property. The hospital is surrounded by greenery and medicinal plants, creating a comparatively quiet therapeutic environment away from the more densely developed parts of the Kochi region. The natural surroundings are incorporated into the wellness experience through outdoor spaces, riverside walks and areas intended for quiet relaxation.

The property includes an open riverside Yoga Hall set within the green surroundings and used for general and individually prescribed Yoga and meditation. The hospital is approximately 12 km from Cochin International Airport and 5 km from Aluva Railway Station, with Aluva town, Metro Station and the municipal bus stand also within approximately 5 km. Its location therefore combines a natural riverside environment with convenient access to Kochi's principal transport connections.

Founders and Ayurvedic Heritage

Sarathy Ayurveda was founded in 2004 by Dr. P. K. Lathika, who established the Sarathy Ayurvedic Clinic and Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital in Aluva. The institution began operations in March 2004 and subsequently expanded its clinical departments and institutional services. Dr. Lathika began her Ayurvedic career in 1989 after completing her education at Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College, subsequently working with Kerala Ayurveda Ltd. before establishing her own practice.

The institution developed under the leadership of Dr. P. K. Lathika and Sri K. P. Suku, progressively adding specialist departments and healthcare services. Its institutional development has included NABH accreditation, ISO 9001:2015 certification, CGHS empanelment, Green Leaf recognition and ISRO medical-centre authorisation. Its heritage is consequently rooted in a physician-led Ayurveda institution established in the early 2000s rather than in a documented multigenerational hereditary Ayurveda family.

Ayurveda Philosophy and Approach

The clinical philosophy of Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is based on classical Ayurveda, scientific application of Ayurvedic principles and individualised treatment according to Prakruthi and health condition. The hospital's approach considers physical and mental wellbeing together, with appropriate diet, lifestyle, daily routine and seasonal adaptation forming part of health maintenance. Ayurvedic medicines and therapies are selected according to the patient's clinical requirements, while contemporary diagnostic, medical and rehabilitation support may be incorporated where considered necessary.

Its Panchakarma methodology distinguishes between Shamana, involving comparatively milder therapeutic management, dietary regulation and medicines, and Shodhana, involving more intensive purification procedures. Panchakarma is structured through Poorvakarma, Pradhanakarma and Paschatkarma, covering preparation, principal purification and post-treatment recovery. The wider therapeutic approach integrates Yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, diet counselling and lifestyle guidance alongside Ayurveda.

Personalised Treatment Planning

Treatment at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is organised around individual clinical assessment rather than a fixed treatment sequence applied uniformly to all patients. The hospital's approach considers Ayurvedic factors including Prakruthi, health condition and individual requirements when determining appropriate therapies, medicines, diet and supportive care. Panchakarma is planned according to the patient's suitability, with preparatory procedures, principal purification and post-treatment recuperation incorporated when indicated.

Personalisation also extends to the hospital's complementary disciplines. Yoga is assessed and prescribed according to individual requirements, with one-to-one sessions provided when appropriate. Physiotherapy and Yoga are used within spinal and joint rehabilitation, while diet plans are adjusted according to health conditions and dietary habits. Women's healthcare similarly combines medical assessment with dietary and lifestyle guidance, while child-health services extend across pre-conception, pregnancy, childhood and developmental support.

Treatment Programs

The hospital's treatment portfolio encompasses Ayurveda and Panchakarma, general Ayurvedic disease management, detoxification, rejuvenation and condition-specific healthcare. Principal clinical areas include spinal and joint disorders, back and neck pain, sciatica, disc-related conditions, spondylitis and spondylosis, musculoskeletal disorders, conservative orthopaedics, pain management, women's health, infertility, PCOS, pregnancy and post-natal care, child health and developmental disorders, stress-related conditions, and diet and lifestyle management.

The documented treatment repertoire includes Abhyangam, Kizhi, Pizhichil, Snehapana, Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Vasthi, Raktamokshana, Sirodhara, Thakradhara, Njavarakizhi, Udvarthanam, Kativasthi, Greevavasthi, Pichu, Lepanam and Swedana, alongside other classical Ayurvedic procedures. Specialist services include spinal rehabilitation, conservative orthopaedic care, pain management, infertility treatment including Uttaravasthi, pregnancy and post-natal care, child-development support, Yoga, meditation, diet counselling and stress management.

Doctors and Wellness Experts

Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital operates with a multidisciplinary Ayurvedic medical structure covering general Ayurveda and Panchakarma, spinal and joint disorders, conservative orthopaedics and pain management, women's health, obstetrics and gynaecology, child health, Yoga and Ayurveda nutrition. The principal medical leadership is provided by Dr. P. K. Lathika, Medical Director and Chief Physician, supported by Dr. Valsaladevi K., Dr. Karthik Nandakumar, Dr. Gayathri S., Dr. Manju K. S. and Dr. Vineetha V. S.

The current medical structure identifies Dr. Valsaladevi K. with child health, clinical Yoga, Yoga therapy, Pranayama therapy and Ayurveda diet; Dr. Karthik Nandakumar with Shalyatantra, conservative orthopaedics, pain management and operations; and Dr. Gayathri S. with Prasoothi Tantra and Streeroga, including obstetrics, infertility and gynaecology, together with quality-management responsibilities. The clinical structure is supported by resident medical, nursing and therapy personnel.

Post Treatment Care

Post-treatment recovery is incorporated into the hospital's Panchakarma methodology through Paschatkarma, the recuperative stage following the principal purification procedures. This phase can include nourishing therapies such as Navarakizhi, Sirodhara, Talapothichil, facial applications and Tarpanam, together with a regulated post-treatment diet. The recovery phase is intended to support the body's transition following intensive therapeutic procedures.

The wider post-treatment approach includes dietary counselling, lifestyle education, Yoga, Pranayama and meditation. The Ayurveda Diet and Nutrition Department provides individualised dietary guidance based on health conditions and dietary habits, while Yoga sessions incorporate education relating to Ayurveda and healthy living. These measures extend the therapeutic approach beyond the treatment room and support continuation of appropriate lifestyle practices following the residential programme.

Accommodation

Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital provides 24 residential beds within its healthcare facility. Residential accommodation is integrated with the clinical operation, enabling patients undertaking longer Ayurvedic treatments and Panchakarma programmes to remain within the hospital environment while receiving medical supervision, prescribed therapies, dietary management, Yoga and supportive services.

The property provides residential accommodation alongside its Ayurveda services rather than operating accommodation as a separate resort component. Public property information identifies standard, air-conditioned and deluxe residential categories, while Kerala Tourism also records accommodation as part of the hospital's Ayurveda offering. Individual room descriptions, room layouts and room-level amenities are intentionally excluded from this property-level section and should be documented separately.

Diet and Dining

Ayurvedic diet is an integral part of treatment at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital. Food is adapted according to the individual's health condition, dietary habits and Ayurvedic requirements. The dietary philosophy considers factors including Prakruthi, season, age, habitat and health status, while favouring fresh, cooked food and avoiding unsuitable processed ingredients where appropriate. Meals are intended to remain practical and palatable while following the therapeutic requirements prescribed for each patient.

The hospital provides vegetarian Ayurvedic cuisine, with personalised dietary planning incorporated into residential treatment. Ayurveda cookery and diet-counselling sessions are conducted as part of the broader nutrition service, with Dr. Valsaladevi and Dr. Vineetha associated with dietary education. Special herbal preparations and recipes are also incorporated into the food programme, reinforcing the role of nutrition within the overall Ayurvedic treatment approach.

Wellness Activities

Yoga and meditation form an established part of the hospital's therapeutic programme. The property has an open riverside Yoga Hall, and trained Yoga instructors conduct both general and individual sessions. Yoga is assessed according to each patient's physical condition and therapeutic requirements, with personalised instruction available where clinically appropriate. Meditation and Pranayama are incorporated according to individual needs.

Wellness activities also include Ayurveda and healthy-lifestyle education, riverside walking and quiet outdoor relaxation. Yoga and physiotherapy contribute to rehabilitation, particularly for spinal and joint conditions, while the hospital's stress-management services address lifestyle factors associated with modern living. Public property information also records cultural programmes, boating and local sightseeing among activities available through the hospital.

Facilities and Services

The property combines healthcare, residential and guest-support facilities, including an Ayurveda treatment centre, Yoga centre, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, medical supervision, doctor-on-call support, Wi-Fi, internet facilities, library, indoor games, parking and transport assistance. Kerala Tourism also records room service, laundry, travel-desk and guide services, car hire, currency exchange, credit-card facilities, cultural programmes, children's play facilities and accessibility-related provisions.

The hospital's location supports domestic and international medical-wellness travel, with Cochin International Airport, Aluva Railway Station, Aluva Metro and local bus services providing access. The clinical operation combines resident doctors and therapists with specialist departments covering Ayurveda, Yoga, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, nutrition and lifestyle management. Publicly listed operating hours are Monday to Saturday, 8:00 am–8:00 pm, with Sunday also listed as open.

Sustainability and Guest Guidelines

The property's environmental setting is characterised by its Periyar riverside location, greenery and medicinal plant surroundings. Its Green Leaf recognition from the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala provides an established tourism-sector recognition for the Ayurveda facility. However, detailed current information concerning renewable energy, water recycling, quantified waste-management systems, carbon reduction or other formal environmental programmes has not been sufficiently verified and is therefore not included as an established property feature.

Residential Ayurveda stays require appropriate medical history and health declarations, together with identification and address documentation; international patients require passport and applicable visa or residence documentation. The property permits children, does not permit pets, and prohibits alcohol, smoking and tobacco within the hospital premises and during Ayurveda programmes. Visitor access is subject to management requirements. These operational conditions should be reconfirmed before publication because policies may change.

Guest Experience and Stay Approach

The stay experience at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is centred on medically supervised Ayurveda within a quiet riverside environment. Accommodation, medical consultation, prescribed Ayurvedic therapies, medicines, therapeutic diet, Yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and lifestyle guidance operate as interconnected elements of the residential treatment experience. This structure makes the hospital particularly relevant to guests seeking condition-specific Ayurveda and Panchakarma rather than a primarily spa-oriented wellness holiday.

The property's distinctive character comes from the combination of clinical Ayurveda and the Periyar riverside setting, supported by specialist medical departments and personalised treatment planning. NABH accreditation, ISO 9001:2015 certification, CGHS empanelment, Green Leaf recognition and ISRO medical-centre authorisation provide an institutional framework around the healthcare operation. Its proximity to Kochi's airport, railway and Metro connections also supports accessibility for domestic and international patients while retaining a comparatively natural residential setting.

More about Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital

Dining at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is integrated into the Ayurvedic approach to treatment, with food regarded as an important component of patient care, recovery and long-term health management. The hospital follows a vegetarian Ayurveda-based dietary approach, with meals planned according to the individual’s health condition, treatment requirements, dietary habits and overall constitution. Rather than following a uniform menu for all guests, dietary guidance is personalised to make the prescribed food regimen both therapeutically appropriate and practical for continued adherence. The hospital places particular emphasis on providing food that is healthy, sustainable, patient-friendly and palatable, recognising that acceptance of a dietary plan is an important part of maintaining it throughout and beyond the stay.

The dietary system is guided by Ayurvedic principles of nutrition, including the ten Ayatana or factors considered when determining an appropriate food regimen. Ayurveda diet counselling and Ayurveda cookery form part of the hospital’s wellness services, with the dietary program led by Dr Valsaladevi K and supported by Dr Vineetha VS. The kitchen also incorporates specially developed herbal recipes in which medicinal ingredients are presented as part of cuisine, helping integrate therapeutic dietary principles into everyday meals. Traditional Kerala and South Indian vegetarian food is also associated with the hospital’s dining offering, with Kerala Tourism describing the food as customised, tasty vegetarian cuisine incorporating Ayurvedic dietary concepts.

Dining therefore extends beyond meal provision to include dietary education, individual nutritional guidance and the practical application of Ayurveda through food. Meals are intended to complement prescribed therapies and support the guest’s broader treatment plan, while dietary counselling helps guests understand suitable food choices and lifestyle practices that can be continued after completing their stay. This creates a dining experience that is closely connected with Sarathy’s wider philosophy of personalised, evidence-informed Ayurveda and holistic health management.

Leisure at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital is centred on gentle, restorative activities that complement the hospital’s residential Ayurveda and wellness environment. The property’s riverside setting along the Periyar provides a naturally peaceful backdrop for relaxation, with the surrounding greenery contributing to a calm atmosphere away from urban distractions. Leisure is closely integrated with the hospital’s wellness philosophy rather than being positioned as conventional resort entertainment, allowing guests to balance treatment, rest and personal time during their stay. Riverside walks form part of the wellness experience, while the property’s tranquil surroundings provide opportunities for quiet relaxation and contemplation.

A key leisure and wellness feature is the hospital’s open riverside Yoga Hall, surrounded by greenery and designed to support regular Yoga and meditation practice. Yoga sessions can be adapted following a doctor’s assessment, with individual sessions arranged when required. General Yoga is also conducted regularly, while meditation is customised according to the guest’s condition and requirements. Patient education on Ayurveda and Yoga is incorporated into the daily Yoga sessions, allowing leisure time to become an extension of the guest’s wellness journey. Pranayama and therapeutic Yoga may also form part of the broader wellness experience where clinically appropriate.

Beyond Yoga and meditation, the wider leisure offering includes opportunities for indoor recreation, reading and relaxed social activities. Kerala Tourism lists facilities and experiences associated with the property including a library, indoor games, boating, cultural programs and access to local tours and sightseeing arrangements. Transport and travel assistance can also support guests wishing to explore the surrounding Aluva and Kochi region during suitable periods of their stay. These activities remain secondary to the treatment schedule, allowing leisure to be incorporated without disrupting the hospital’s medically supervised Ayurveda routine.

Overall, leisure at Sarathy is designed around restoration, mindful activity, nature and gentle recreation, rather than an extensive entertainment program. The combination of the Periyar riverfront, landscaped surroundings, riverside Yoga space, meditation, walking, reading, indoor activities and selected local experiences gives guests opportunities to unwind between treatments while maintaining the calm, health-focused character of the property.

Ayurveda at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital follows a personalised, classical and scientifically oriented approach, combining traditional Ayurvedic principles with contemporary clinical assessment where required. The hospital was established with an emphasis on genuine scientific Ayurveda, with treatment planning based on the individual’s Prakruthi, health condition, lifestyle and therapeutic requirements. The clinical approach encompasses both preventive and therapeutic Ayurveda, addressing the maintenance of health through appropriate daily routines, suitable food, seasonal adaptation, disciplined lifestyle and mental wellbeing, while disease management is structured around individually customised care plans.

Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma form an important part of the hospital’s Ayurvedic practice. The clinical approach distinguishes between Shamana, using medicines, dietary regulation and milder therapies to manage conditions, and Shodhana, which involves more intensive purification procedures. Panchakarma is structured through Poorvakarma, Pradhanakarma and Paschatkarma, with therapies including Snehapana, Abhyangam, Kizhi, Pizhichil, Swedana, Dhara, Vamana, Virechana, Nasya and medicated enemas, according to individual clinical requirements. Post-treatment care may incorporate nourishing therapies, dietary measures and supportive practices intended to help maintain the therapeutic process.

The hospital has a broad Ayurvedic clinical focus covering general medicine and Panchakarma, spine and joint disorders, conservative orthopaedics and pain management, women's health and gynaecology, infertility, pre- and post-natal care, child health and developmental disorders, Ayurveda diet and nutrition, rehabilitation, and holistic wellness and stress management. Its spine and joint approach combines Ayurveda with physiotherapy, Yoga, posture and ergonomic correction, lifestyle modification and dietary remodelling. Women's healthcare includes Ayurvedic management of conditions such as PCOS, menstrual disorders and infertility, while child-health services incorporate traditional Ayurvedic approaches alongside supportive therapies for childhood and developmental concerns.

Yoga and meditation are integrated into the hospital's broader clinical and wellness model rather than offered solely as recreational activities. The hospital has an open riverside Yoga Hall surrounded by greenery, providing a dedicated setting for practice. Yoga is customised following a detailed assessment by the medical team, with one-to-one sessions arranged where necessary or when specifically recommended by the treating doctors. General Yoga is also conducted regularly, while meditation is adapted to the individual’s health condition and requirements.

The Yoga program also incorporates Pranayama, Ayurveda and Yoga education, enabling guests to understand the relationship between therapeutic practices, daily habits and long-term wellbeing. Several members of the hospital team, including doctors and the General Manager, have formal Yoga instructor qualifications from different Yoga traditions. This multidisciplinary integration allows Yoga to support treatment, rehabilitation, stress management and general wellness according to individual needs rather than following a single standardised routine.

Ayurveda diet and nutrition further complement the treatment and Yoga approach. Dietary recommendations are customised according to the guest's health condition and dietary habits, with Ayurveda diet counselling and Ayurvedic cookery forming part of the hospital's services. Special herbal preparations may also be incorporated into food, reflecting the principle of using appropriate cuisine as part of an individual's broader health and treatment plan.

21 Nights Fissure Treatment Program
  • Description

The 21 Nights Fissure Treatment Program at Sarathy Ayurvedic Hospital provides focused Ayurvedic care for individuals seeking support for anal fissure and related anorectal health concerns. The approach is grounded in the hospital’s specialised Shalyatantra practice and its broader emphasis on personalised Ayurvedic healthcare. Rather than applying an identical plan to every guest, clinical care is determined according to the individual’s condition and overall health status. The Ayurvedic assessment considers the specific presentation of the disorder within the patient’s constitution and current health imbalance, while maintaining a classical, patient-centred approach to anorectal care. This makes the program appropriate for guests requiring dedicated Ayurvedic management and clinical supervision for fissure-related concerns.

The program’s broader therapeutic objective is to support symptom management, recovery and improved anorectal wellbeing, while encouraging appropriate dietary and lifestyle practices that can contribute to sustainable digestive and general health. Its preventive value lies in supporting healthier daily habits and reducing factors that may adversely affect ongoing wellbeing, where appropriate to the individual’s clinical assessment. The program provides a structured residential setting for continued medical supervision, while the expected course of care remains individual-dependent rather than guaranteed. Before treatment is planned, the Ayurvedic physician conducts a detailed clinical assessment and develops an individual care plan considering the guest’s Prakriti, Vikriti, health condition, age, physical strength and therapeutic objectives, with the approach adjusted to the person’s specific requirements.

    Note:

All treatments and program components are personalised following the initial consultation with the retreat's Ayurveda doctor and the guest's health condition. Therapy protocols may vary accordingly.
