Rockholm Ayurveda Yoga Retreat draws inspiration from its name, proposed by a German architect, signifying “rocks surrounded by water on three sides.” Retaining its historical essence, the main building, originally constructed in 1979, was lovingly restored and reopened in November 2019.
A dedicated team of 50 hospitality professionals manage the retreat with expertise across accommodation, wellness, Ayurveda, Yoga, dining, horticulture, and guest services, ensuring each stay is memorable and transformative. The boutique retreat embodies a minimalistic art deco architectural style combined with sustainable practices, celebrating holistic living in harmony with nature. It offers 23 guest rooms, including two exclusive suites – the Ocean View Luxury Suite and the Penthouse Luxury Suite – within a built-up space of 15,000 sq. ft. across three residences: Residence Ocean, Residence Arogya, and Residence Sky. Complementing these are the Naivedya Restaurant, Bodhi Yoga Pavilion, Terrace Yoga Pavilion, a sea-facing garden, and a fully equipped Ayurveda Centre with three treatment rooms and a steam bath.

Rockholm Beach, a serene public beach maintained by the retreat, offers an unspoiled setting for swimming and reflection. The best time to visit is September to May, when weather conditions are ideal for Ayurveda treatments and enjoying the scenic beauty of Lighthouse Beach. The monsoon season (June to August) is perfect for experiencing seasonal Ayurveda therapies amidst refreshing rains, though swimming may be limited.
With a history dating back to the mid-sixties, when the land was acquired by Mr. Peter Christian and family, Rockholm evolved into a seaside hotel in 1979, attracting international guests including diplomats and travellers from Europe and the United States. Breakfast is generally offered as a buffet, while lunch and dinner formats depend on the number of in-house guests. During periods of lower occupancy, meals are served à la carte, ensuring personalised service.
Culinary experts, along with resident dieticians, design daily cyclic set menus rooted in Ayurveda and enhanced with coastal and international influences. Dishes are further tailored to individual body constitutions (Prakriti) and Ayurveda treatment plans, making dining an extension of the healing process.
Guests can also enjoy interactive live cooking demonstrations, held every Tuesday and Friday, where chefs and in-house dieticians share recipes, Ayurvedic cooking tips, and insights into spices and their therapeutic value. A minimum of 7 nights is recommended for the Rejuvenation Program, while a minimum of 14 nights or more is encouraged for the Panchakarma Program, offering guests the depth of cleansing and revitalisation that Ayurveda prescribes.
The Ayurveda Centre is a sanctuary designed to restore harmony to body, mind, and spirit. Operating daily from 9 am to 6 pm, it features three specialised treatment rooms – Vayu, Surya, and Tara, a welcoming Ayurveda lobby, a doctor’s consultation room, and a traditional steam bath chamber. The treatments are personalised under the guidance of experienced Vaidyas, with every therapy using oils and formulations tailored to individual constitutions.
The Herbal Garden is an integral part of the centre, flourishing with medicinal plants such as Neem, Aloe Vera, Brahmi, Wood Apple, Bhringaraj, Curry Leaf, Vetiver, Ginger, and Turmeric, which are used in treatments. I felt like I just had the best time of my life. I cannot think of anything else in terms of Ayurveda Wellness other than Rockholm now. Right from the check in I was thrilled by the warmth and welcome offered by the staff there. My room had a view that was nothing less than heaven. As it is an Ayurveda resort, I was immediately given a doctors appointment just after the check-in was done. After a brief consultation I was suggested some treatments which was a part of the package I booked. Food there is prepared with utmost care and precautions to align with your on going treatment. The view from restaurant was breathtaking as well. One of the nicest swimming pool areas I have ever witnessed, and the pool was crystal clear all the time. Staff was eager to help everytime we called them. I went to the pool almost every morning and evening. One of the main Highlight for my stay is the Yoga experience in Morning and Evening. Our Yoga instructors were so helpful especially Mr Abhilasha Soman which identified my hamstring stiffness and helped me to overcome as much as possible during my stay. Moving on to Ayurveda treatments, I was simply amazed by the knowledge of the therapists. Therapists were focusing on the suggested areas of my body every day and they kept checking if I was comfortable. I used to eagerly wait for Ayurveda Massage everyday. Staff at restaurant was very welcoming and helpful, they even prepared a dessert on my Birthday specially for me. Also they were kind enough to fulfil all my daily requests for the food. Beach access is so nice, that you feel like you are just a door step away from the beach. They also have spread a number of beds near the beach so that you can enjoy the waves crashing on the rocks. I would suggest everyone to at least come here for minimum of 10 days, anything less will not feel enough…More

PROGRAM & DIET POLICIES
At Rockholm, the way of life is rooted in the timeless principles of Ayurveda and Yoga, with the goal of uplifting the mind, body, and soul through authentic therapies, nourishing meals, and mindful practices.
Ayurvedic Therapies:
All treatments begin with a detailed consultation with a Rockholm Ayurveda Doctor. Based on individual health conditions and wellness goals, a personalised treatment plan is designed, incorporating both internal and external medications throughout the stay.
Meals:
Rockholm serves only Ayurveda vegetarian dishes as part of the program. Meals are carefully curated to support healing and are assessed daily by Rockholm’s Diet Doctors to align with each guest’s treatment plan. A vegetarian buffet is available, with additional preferences offered through an à la carte menu.
Inclusions:
Each Ayurveda package includes accommodation, all applicable taxes, Ayurveda vegetarian meals (full board), daily doctor consultations, one Ayurveda session daily with 2–3 treatments (maximum 1 hour 45 minutes per day), daily yoga sessions, and complimentary Trivandrum airport transfers for bookings of a minimum of 7 nights.

Guests are requested to share the following along with the health declaration form prior to arrival:

IDENTITY VERIFICATION
Indian Nationals:
Valid photo ID (Driver’s Licence, Voter’s ID, or Passport) is mandatory for registration at check-in.
Foreign Nationals:
Passport with a valid visa must be presented. For those on employment or permanent residence, the passport must include a residential permit.
POLICIES
Child Policy:
Children below 12 years of age are not permitted.
Pet Policy:
Pets are not allowed within the retreat.
Visitor Policy:
Admission of visitors into the retreat premises and guest areas is at the sole discretion of management.
Alcohol & Smoking Policy:
Rockholm upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards alcohol, smoking, and tobacco chewing. These are strictly prohibited across the premises.
- If the booking is canceled before 30 days of arrival, there is no cancellation fee.
- If the booking is canceled between 29 to 11 days of arrival, 50% of the booking invoice amount will be charged.
- If the booking is canceled between 10 days to 4 days of arrival, 75% of the booking invoice amount will be charged.
- If the booking is canceled between 3 days to the scheduled arrival date, 85% of the booking invoice amount will be charged.
- If the booking is canceled after arrival at the hotel or in case of an early departure, 100% of the booking invoice amount will be charged.
- Even if the booking is cancelled within the grace period and qualifies for a refund, payment gateway charges will be deducted from the refunded amount.
