Ayurveda, originating in India, is an ancient life science practiced to attain complete health in the pursuits of human life: Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha, with Moksha (salvation) as the ultimate goal. The term 'Ayurveda' combines 'Ayu' (comprising Shareera - Body, Indria - Sensory organs, Satwa - Manas, and Atma - Soul) with 'Veda,' signifying authentic knowledge. In the Atharvaveda, Ayurveda is known as Upaveda. The Creator, Brahma, imparted this science to Daksha Prajapathi, Ashwini Kumar, and Indra for humanity's welfare, later reaching eminent sages like Bharadwaja, Dhanwanthari, Kashyapa, Nimi, establishing itself as Ashtangaayurveda.
The Ayurvedic lineage of Poomully Mana traces back to the Koodalloor Gurukula tradition, encompassing Sanskrit, Shasthras, Vedas, Tarka, Ayurveda & Yoga, and more. This tradition laid the foundation for the knowledge and practice that would be passed down through generations.
