Nikki’s Nest is a serene sea-side Ayurveda resort located near an ancient fishing village in Kerala, just 20 kilometres from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Established in 1996, the retreat has been dedicated to spreading health and harmony through authentic Ayurveda and wellness tourism. The resort features 47 rooms across five categories, blending traditional charm with modern comforts. Guests can savour wholesome dining at two restaurants — one offering pure vegetarian cuisine and the other serving freshly prepared seafood delicacies. A sea-facing yoga floor, sun deck by the swimming pool, beauty parlour, gift corner, and a compact library enhance the holistic experience. In line with its wellness ethos, smoking is not permitted inside rooms, with designated areas provided. The resort’s sloping terrain and firm ground make it more suitable for adults seeking a peaceful Ayurveda retreat than for children. With Trivandrum’s typically sunny tropical climate, light cotton clothing and sunscreen are recommended. Set within a pesticide-free garden, Nikki’s Nest embraces harmony with nature. While tropical insects may be present, mosquito nets and organic repellents are provided for comfort. The property actively supports sustainable practices, aligning with Kerala Tourism’s “Green Carpet Venture” towards a cleaner environment. The resort enjoys a tranquil beachfront location, away from fishing activity, where professional lifeguards, sunbeds, umbrellas, and towels ensure a safe and relaxing experience. Though the sea is not suited for serious swimming due to strong waves, the beach is ideal for sunbathing and relaxation. Reflecting its compassionate spirit, the resort’s lifeguards also extend care to homeless beach dogs, providing food, vaccinations, and medical attention. At Nikki’s Nest, every aspect of the stay is designed to create a safe, secure, and rejuvenating Ayurveda experience, where guests can embrace nature, wellness, and the vibrant spirit of Kerala.

The resort offers two distinctive sea-facing restaurants. Hibiscus is a pure vegetarian haven designed especially for Ayurveda guests, while Orchid specialises in seafood dishes for both walk-in and live-in guests. For guests undergoing treatment, a vegetarian buffet based on Ayurveda principles is served, with seafood occasionally permitted upon consultation with the Ayurveda Vaidyars (Physicians).

Nikki’s Nest follows a health-conscious and sustainable culinary approach. Meals are cooked exclusively in bronze vessels to prevent adulteration, and only fresh, natural ingredients are used—free from artificial colours, flavouring, or preservatives. Ingredients are carefully sourced from the family garden and Duke’s Forest Lodge plantation, with every dish prepared from scratch. The resort maintains an animal-friendly ethos, serving no meat or meat products, while special seafood requests are honoured occasionally.

Festivals are celebrated with colourful traditions and festive spreads, including Diwali, Onam, Holi, Vishu, Christmas, and New Year, without any surcharge for in-house guests. Chef Raj enhances the dining experience by hosting interactive cooking sessions, where guests exchange culinary secrets and create special dishes together. The resort also publishes its own vegetarian cookbook, highlighting traditional recipes and the medicinal value of spices as guided by Ayurveda doctors, with proceeds supporting animal welfare, environmental care, and staff well-being.

The resort strongly emphasises hygienic preparation and advises guests dining outside to remain mindful of their Ayurveda therapeutic diet. In addition, Nikki’s Nest operates a biogas plant, converting kitchen waste into natural cooking fuel, thereby ensuring eco-friendly and cost-effective meal preparation for staff throughout the year.

Set in an ancient fishing village, Nikki’s Nest offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea, where local fishermen set sail in traditional catamarans guided by the stars. The resort’s design blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, featuring open breezy corridors, lush lawns, and palm-fringed cottages cascading down a hillock to the shoreline. Each cottage, complete with essential comforts, features a private verandah for a tranquil coastal retreat.

The resort promotes responsible tourism and cultural sensitivity. Guests are advised to respect local traditions by dressing modestly, especially when visiting temples, and to avoid beachwear outside designated areas. While elephant sanctuaries may be visited, elephant rides are discouraged due to ethical concerns. Instead, guests are invited to observe these gentle animals in their natural behaviour, with Nikki’s Nest facilitating connections with animal welfare organisations if needed.

Every aspect of leisure at Nikki’s Nest is designed to balance comfort, cultural immersion, and conscious living, creating a stay that is both relaxing and meaningful.

Since 1996, Nikki’s Nest has been a sanctuary for authentic Ayurvedic healing. The centre is guided by a dedicated team of doctors with 19–26 years of experience, supported by 25 skilled masseurs, 17 treatment rooms, an Ayurveda kitchen, and daily yoga sessions. Every aspect is thoughtfully designed to nurture health, balance, and inner harmony.

A hallmark of Nikki’s Nest is its in-house production of Ayurvedic oils and powders at Duke’s Forest Lodge, the resort’s plantation. Under the supervision of the Ayurveda doctor, herbs and roots are carefully harvested—either freshly gathered from the plantation or sourced from trusted suppliers—and processed to create potent classical formulations. True to Kerala’s Ayurvedic traditions, the centre avoids the use of metals and minerals in medicine, focusing instead on pure herbal preparations drawn from the region’s rich biodiversity.

For internal medicines such as tablets, Nikki’s Nest partners with reputed, licensed companies holding a Good Manufacturing Stamp from the Government of India. Transparency is paramount—physicians explain the composition, preparation, and origin of each medicine, ensuring guests are fully informed and comfortable with their treatment.

Based on detailed consultations, therapies may follow Sodhana (Panchakarma) or Samana approaches, tailored to the guest’s dosha balance, capacity, and condition. The wide range of treatments—rooted in time-honoured practices—are designed to rejuvenate, detoxify, relax, and restore equilibrium, offering both therapeutic benefits and a deeply enriching holiday experience.

Complementing Ayurveda, yoga and meditation sessions are held daily, led by experienced instructors who guide beginners, moderates, and advanced practitioners alike. These sessions enhance strength, flexibility, and inner calm. The ocean-facing yoga platform, enriched with positive vibrations from a nearby temple, provides an inspiring setting. Sundays remain yoga-free, allowing guests to enjoy leisure time at their own pace.

Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, Nikki’s Nest also repurposes oils used in therapies. These are redirected for eco-friendly uses such as small-scale machine lubrication, rubberised road tarring, and termite-proofing mixtures, reinforcing a mindful approach to environmental responsibility.

At Nikki’s Nest, Ayurveda is not just treatment—it is a way of life, combining medical authenticity, transparency, sustainability, and holistic care to deliver a transformative experience.

Panchakarma

A Panchakarma retreat is a deeply transformative Ayurvedic detox and healing program designed to eliminate accumulated toxins, restore internal balance, and rejuvenate the body and mind. Rooted in the ancient science of Ayurveda, Panchakarma meaning “five actions” is a medically guided process that works at a cellular level to remove toxins (Ama), strengthen digestion (Agni) and balance the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Unlike modern detox programs or wellness retreats that focus only on relaxation, a Panchakarma retreat is a structured therapeutic process aimed at long-term health, disease prevention and complete physiological reset. In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, the body is constantly exposed to stress, processed foods, environmental pollutants and irregular routines. These factors weaken digestion and lead to the accumulation of Ama, a toxic byproduct that obstructs bodily channels and disrupts normal functioning. Over time, this imbalance manifests as fatigue, weight gain, poor digestion, hormonal issues, joint pain, skin disorders, and mental stress. A Panchakarma retreat addresses these root causes by mobilising and eliminating toxins from deep tissues, allowing the body to restore its natural intelligence and healing capacity. A traditional Panchakarma treatment follows a carefully structured three-stage process to ensure safety and effectiveness. The first stage, known as preparation (Purva Karma), involves therapies such as Snehana (internal and external oiling) and Swedana (herbal steam therapy), which help loosen and mobilise toxins from the tissues. The second stage, the main detox phase (Pradhana Karma), includes specialised treatments such as Virechana (therapeutic purgation), Basti (medicated enemas), Nasya (nasal detox), and in specific cases, Vamana or Raktamokshana. These therapies are selected based on individual diagnosis and are performed under the supervision of qualified Ayurvedic doctors. The final stage, rejuvenation (Paschat Karma), focuses on restoring strength, rebuilding immunity, and stabilising the body through herbal medicines, a specialised Ayurvedic diet, and lifestyle guidance. A Panchakarma retreat offers a wide range of benefits that go beyond physical detoxification. It improves digestion and metabolism, supports sustainable weight management, enhances immunity, reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep quality, and promotes clearer skin and increased energy levels. One of the most profound effects of Panchakarma is its impact on mental clarity and emotional balance. As toxins are eliminated from the body, the nervous system becomes more stable, allowing the mind to shift from a state of stress to a state of calm and focus. Many individuals experience a deep sense of reset, both physically and mentally, after completing a Panchakarma program. When choosing a Panchakarma retreat, location plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of the treatment. A Panchakarma retreat in Kerala, India is widely considered the most authentic and effective option due to its strong Ayurvedic lineage, ideal tropical climate, and access to medicinal herbs. Kerala is home to highly trained BAMS-certified Ayurvedic doctors who follow classical treatment protocols, ensuring a medically accurate and personalised approach. The warm and humid climate of Kerala supports detoxification by opening the body’s channels, making treatments more effective compared to colder regions. For this reason, Kerala has become the global centre for authentic Panchakarma therapy. Across India, Panchakarma retreats are available in various formats, ranging from traditional Ayurvedic hospitals to luxury wellness resorts. While India offers a wide range of options, the quality and authenticity of treatment can vary significantly, making it important to choose centres that provide personalised care and medical supervision. A Panchakarma retreat in Sri Lanka offers a similar tropical environment and is emerging as a destination for Ayurvedic healing, often combining traditional therapies with a more relaxed retreat experience. Meanwhile, a Panchakarma retreat in Bali is popular for its scenic beauty and luxury wellness offerings, although treatments may be adapted and may not always follow classical Ayurvedic protocols as practised in India. A typical Panchakarma retreat includes an initial consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor, personalised treatment planning, daily therapies, herbal medications, and a specialised Ayurvedic diet designed to support detoxification. Many retreats also incorporate yoga, meditation, and lifestyle guidance to enhance overall well-being. The duration of a Panchakarma program can vary depending on individual health goals, with 7-day programs offering mild detox, 14-day programs providing moderate cleansing, and 21 to 28-day programs delivering deep detoxification and long-term healing benefits. For chronic conditions and deeper imbalances, longer programs are generally recommended. Choosing the right Panchakarma retreat is essential for achieving safe and effective results. A genuine retreat should offer qualified Ayurvedic doctors, personalised treatment protocols, daily medical supervision, authentic Panchakarma therapies, and a structured dietary plan. It is important to understand that Panchakarma is not a spa treatment or a relaxation package—it is a medical healing process rooted in Ayurvedic science. A Panchakarma retreat is ultimately an investment in long-term health and well-being. It is ideal for individuals seeking to address chronic health issues, improve digestion, reduce stress, enhance immunity, or simply reset the body and mind. By removing deep-rooted toxins and restoring balance, Panchakarma allows the body to function optimally and maintain a state of natural harmony. Whether you choose a Panchakarma retreat in Kerala, India, Sri Lanka, or Bali, the experience offers a powerful opportunity to reconnect with your health, restore vitality, and experience true holistic healing.

Rasayana Chikitsa (Rejuvenation Therapy)

Rasayana Chikitsa occupies a unique place in Ayurveda as the branch dedicated to rejuvenation, regeneration, and longevity science. While commonly understood as a therapy, Rasayana is traditionally described as a discipline that enhances the quality of life by improving tissue integrity, cognitive function, and resistance to ageing. It operates through specialised protocols that support the renewal of body tissues (Dhatus) and optimise the flow of nutrients across physiological systems. One of the defining aspects of Rasayana therapy is its focus on tissue nourishment at successive levels. Ayurveda explains that the body is sustained through a chain of tissue formation—from plasma (Rasa) to reproductive tissue (Shukra). When this chain is disrupted, degeneration, fatigue, and premature ageing begin to appear. Rasayana Chikitsa works by improving this tissue transformation process, ensuring that each layer is properly nourished and regenerated. A key concept associated with Rasayana is Ojas, considered the essence of all bodily tissues and the foundation of immunity, vitality, and mental stability. Depletion of Ojas is linked to chronic fatigue, low immunity, emotional instability, and reduced resilience. Rasayana therapies are designed to rebuild Ojas through targeted herbal formulations, dietary regulation, and restorative treatments that strengthen both physical and psychological endurance. Rasayana Chikitsa is also closely connected to age management in Ayurveda. Classical texts describe different stages of life and recommend Rasayana interventions to slow down degeneration and maintain optimal function. This makes it particularly relevant for individuals seeking healthy ageing, improved cognitive performance, and sustained energy levels rather than symptomatic treatment alone. There are different approaches within Rasayana therapy, including Kutipraveshika Rasayana (a highly controlled and intensive rejuvenation protocol conducted in isolation) and Vatatapika Rasayana (a more practical, lifestyle-integrated approach suitable for retreat settings). While the former is rarely practised in modern environments due to its strict requirements, the latter forms the foundation of most Rasayana Chikitsa retreat programs today. Geographical context plays an important role in the effectiveness of Rasayana therapy. A Rasayana Chikitsa retreat in Kerala, India offers access to traditional Ayurvedic lineages, region-specific herbal preparations, and clinical expertise developed over generations. The natural humidity and temperature of Kerala are considered supportive for therapeutic absorption and tissue nourishment. In comparison, other parts of India offer varied approaches, ranging from clinical Ayurvedic hospitals to wellness-focused retreats. A Rasayana retreat in Sri Lanka shares similar climatic advantages and continues to grow as a complementary Ayurvedic destination. Meanwhile, a rejuvenation retreat in Bali is often positioned within a luxury wellness framework, where the emphasis may lean more towards relaxation and lifestyle enhancement rather than classical Ayurvedic methodology. Rasayana Chikitsa is particularly relevant in conditions involving degeneration and depletion, including low immunity, post-illness recovery, chronic fatigue syndromes, and age-related decline. It is also used to support mental performance, memory, and emotional stability, making it beneficial for individuals experiencing burnout or cognitive strain. A structured Rasayana program involves more than therapies alone. It includes strict adherence to dietary guidelines (Pathya), behavioural discipline, and routine alignment to maximise absorption and effectiveness. Seasonal considerations (Ritucharya) and daily routines (Dinacharya) are often integrated into the program to enhance long-term outcomes. The success of Rasayana therapy depends heavily on consistency, correct sequencing, and the individual’s ability to follow these guidelines. Another important aspect is that Rasayana Chikitsa is often recommended after detoxification therapies such as Panchakarma, as a cleansed body is more receptive to nourishment and regeneration. This sequencing significantly enhances the effectiveness of Rasayana interventions. Choosing the right Rasayana Chikitsa retreat requires attention to medical authenticity and program structure. Key factors include the presence of qualified Ayurvedic physicians, use of classical herbal formulations, personalised protocols, and a controlled environment that supports rest and recovery. Unlike general wellness programs, Rasayana therapy requires a methodical approach to deliver measurable and lasting results. Rasayana Chikitsa ultimately represents Ayurveda’s vision of sustained vitality rather than temporary wellness. By focusing on regeneration, tissue strength, and internal resilience, it provides a pathway to maintain health, delay ageing, and enhance overall quality of life in a structured and scientifically grounded manner.

Weight Management

Ayurvedic weight management is based on the principle that sustainable weight balance is achieved through metabolic correction, hormonal regulation, and lifestyle alignment, rather than temporary calorie restriction. It focuses on restoring the body’s natural ability to process, absorb, and utilise nutrients efficiently, ensuring that weight loss occurs gradually and remains stable over time. One of the key factors addressed in Ayurvedic weight management is the role of metabolic toxins (Ama) and impaired digestive fire, which can lead to the accumulation of excess body fat and fluid retention. When metabolic pathways are inefficient, the body tends to store rather than utilise energy, resulting in persistent weight gain despite dietary control. Ayurvedic therapies are designed to stimulate these metabolic processes and improve the body’s ability to eliminate waste effectively. A structured weight management retreat in Kerala, India includes a combination of specialised therapies that actively support fat metabolism and circulation. Treatments such as Udwarthanam, a herbal powder massage, help break down subcutaneous fat and improve lymphatic drainage, while Swedana (therapeutic steam) enhances sweating and supports toxin elimination. In certain cases, detox-oriented procedures may also be incorporated to reset metabolic function and improve treatment outcomes. Diet plays a central role in the success of a weight management program. Rather than restrictive eating, Ayurveda emphasises digestive efficiency and food compatibility, prescribing meals that are easy to metabolise and aligned with the individual’s constitution. This approach helps regulate appetite, reduce cravings, and improve nutrient absorption without creating nutritional deficiencies. Lifestyle correction is another essential component. Daily routines (Dinacharya), sleep regulation, and physical activity such as yoga are integrated into the program to support metabolic balance and long-term weight stability. These practices ensure that the results achieved during the retreat can be maintained beyond the treatment period. A weight management retreat in Kerala offers a distinct advantage due to its combination of authentic Ayurvedic expertise, climate, and access to high-quality herbal preparations. Across India, programs may vary between clinical centres and wellness retreats, while destinations such as Sri Lanka and Bali offer similar experiences with a stronger emphasis on relaxation and wellness tourism rather than classical Ayurvedic protocols. This approach is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with stubborn weight gain, metabolic slowdown, fluid retention, or post-diet weight rebound. It is also suitable for those seeking a structured and medically guided program that goes beyond conventional weight loss methods. Ayurvedic weight management ultimately focuses on retraining the body’s internal systems, allowing it to maintain balance naturally. By combining therapies, diet, and lifestyle practices, it provides a comprehensive and sustainable pathway to achieving optimal body weight and long-term metabolic health.

Treatment For Back Pain

Central to Ayurveda is the concept of balance and harmony within the body, achieved through a combination of natural remedies, lifestyle adjustments, and therapeutic practices. Herbal remedies play a significant role in Ayurvedic treatment for back pain. Various herbs and botanicals with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties are utilized to reduce swelling, alleviate muscle tension, and relieve pain. These may include substances such as ginger, turmeric, ashwagandha, and guggulu, which have been used for centuries to support musculoskeletal health and promote overall well-being. Dietary modifications are another essential aspect of Ayurvedic therapy for back pain. Recommendations typically involve consuming foods that possess anti-inflammatory properties while avoiding those that can contribute to inflammation and aggravate discomfort. Additionally, emphasis is placed on maintaining proper digestion and eliminating toxins from the body, as digestive health is closely linked to overall wellness in Ayurveda. Incorporating lifestyle adjustments is integral to the Ayurvedic approach to managing back pain. This may involve adopting correct posture habits, engaging in regular physical activity to strengthen the back muscles and improve flexibility, and implementing stress-reducing practices such as meditation and deep breathing exercises. By addressing the root cause of back pain through lifestyle modifications, Ayurveda aims to prevent future occurrences and promote long-term relief. Ayurvedic therapies offer a range of specialized treatments tailored to individuals experiencing back pain. These may include Panchakarma detoxification procedures to cleanse the body of accumulated toxins, as well as therapeutic massages using specific herbal oils to soothe sore muscles, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Yoga and meditation are also commonly prescribed as part of Ayurvedic therapy, offering gentle yet effective methods to alleviate tension, restore balance, and enhance overall spinal health. In essence, Ayurvedic treatment for back pain provides a holistic and personalized approach that addresses the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit. By restoring harmony within the individual, Ayurveda not only offers relief from back pain but also fosters a state of optimal health and well-being.

Dermatitis Treatment

Dermatitis refers to inflammation of the skin that can present as redness, itching, dryness, swelling, or rashes. It may occur in different forms such as contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), or seborrheic dermatitis. Symptoms can vary from mild irritation to severe discomfort, sometimes with oozing or crusting. Common triggers include allergens, chemicals, soaps, cosmetics, weather changes, stress, and certain foods. Repeated exposure to irritants or underlying sensitivity can worsen the condition. According to Ayurveda, dermatitis is caused by aggravation of Pitta dosha (leading to redness, heat, and inflammation) and Kapha dosha (causing itching, swelling, and discharge). It also involves Rakta Dhatu Dushti, which affects skin health. When digestion (Agni) is weak, it leads to formation of Ama (toxins), which circulate in the body and manifest through the skin. Unhealthy dietary habits, incompatible food combinations, irregular routines, and emotional stress can aggravate the condition further. Management focuses on treating the root cause by improving digestion, eliminating toxins, and balancing doshas. A simple, clean, and easily digestible diet helps reduce toxin formation and supports healing. Avoiding known triggers and maintaining proper skin hygiene are essential. Detoxification therapies play a key role in long-term management. Snehapanam (internal oleation therapy) helps loosen toxins from deeper tissues, followed by Virechanam (therapeutic purgation), which is effective in eliminating excess Pitta and purifying the blood, thereby reducing inflammation and skin reactions. Supportive therapies such as Abhyanga (medicated oil application) help nourish and protect the skin, while local applications reduce itching, dryness, and irritation. Stress management through yoga, meditation, and proper sleep is also important, as stress can trigger flare-ups. With a consistent Ayurvedic approach focusing on detoxification, diet, and lifestyle correction, dermatitis can be effectively managed, improving skin health and reducing recurrence.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system drives inflammation in both the joints and the skin. It is linked with psoriasis, the skin condition of red, scaly plaques, and combines that with an inflammatory arthritis causing joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. It ranges from mild to severe, and this matters: left untreated, the joint inflammation can cause permanent damage over time. That single fact shapes honest care. Modern medicine now has treatments that not only relieve symptoms but can genuinely slow the disease and protect the joints, and starting them early makes a real difference so these are the foundation, and Ayurveda must never delay or replace them. Ayurveda understands PsA through Vatarakta (its deep, Gambhira form) combined with Kushta, involving disturbed Vata, Pitta, and the blood (Rakta).

Herbal remedies play a central role in Ayurvedic treatments for arthritis and spondylitis. Medicinal herbs such as turmeric, ginger, boswellia, ashwagandha, and guggulu are renowned for their anti-inflammatory properties and ability to support joint health. These herbs can be consumed orally as powders, capsules, or teas, or applied topically in the form of oils or ointments. Dietary modifications are another cornerstone of Ayurvedic therapy. Emphasizing a diet that is warm, nourishing, and easily digestible, Ayurveda recommends avoiding foods that aggravate the doshas associated with arthritis and spondylitis, such as cold, dry, and processed foods. Including spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric in cooking can also aid digestion and reduce inflammation. In addition to herbal remedies and dietary adjustments, Ayurvedic treatment often incorporates lifestyle modifications and therapeutic practices to promote overall well-being. Gentle exercises like yoga and tai chi can improve flexibility, strengthen muscles, and enhance joint mobility. Ayurvedic therapies such as Abhyanga (oil massage), Swedana (herbal steam therapy), and Basti (medicated enema) may also be recommended to detoxify the body, reduce pain, and restore balance. By addressing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, Ayurvedic treatment for arthritis and spondylitis aims to not only alleviate physical discomfort but also to promote holistic healing and improve quality of life. However, it's important to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to receive personalized guidance and ensure safe and effective treatment.

14 Nights Arthritis Treatment Program

The 14 Nights Arthritis Treatment Program at Nikki’s Nest provides an Ayurvedic care pathway for individuals seeking support for arthritis, joint pain, stiffness and related musculoskeletal discomfort. Arthritis is specifically included among the conditions addressed through the centre’s Ayurvedic treatment framework, with the clinical approach determined according to the individual rather than through a standardised regimen. Ayurveda at the centre considers fluctuations in the three Doshas—Vatha, Pitha and Kapha as relevant to health and disease, while the physician evaluates the guest through observation, physical examination and verbal assessment, considering factors including Prakriti, Dosha balance, strength, age, digestive power, food habits and the nature of the condition. The Program seeks to support reduced joint discomfort, improved physical mobility and better musculoskeletal wellbeing, while encouraging health practices that may be maintained beyond the treatment period. The dietary framework complements Ayurvedic care through vegetarian food prepared according to Ayurvedic principles and adapted to individual health requirements, with dietary restrictions and specific needs accommodated by the kitchen. Longer-term wellbeing is supported through greater awareness of appropriate food and lifestyle practices rather than focusing solely on immediate comfort. The therapeutic plan is established after a detailed consultation and clinical assessment by the Ayurvedic physician, who considers the guest’s Prakriti, Vikriti, age, physical strength, present health condition and individual therapeutic objectives when determining the most appropriate course of care. Note: All treatments and program components are personalised following the initial consultation with the retreat's Ayurveda doctor and the guest's health condition. Therapy protocols may vary accordingly.

14 Nights Sleep Disturbances Treatment Program

The 14 Nights Sleep Disturbances Treatment Program at Nikki’s Nest provides an Ayurvedic care pathway for individuals experiencing sleep disturbances, sleeplessness and related difficulties in maintaining restful sleep. The Ayurvedic approach considers health as an interaction between the body and mind, with physicians assessing the individual’s Prakriti, Dosha balance, physical condition, strength, age and other clinical factors when identifying the underlying imbalance. The centre specifically associates Vatha-predominant conditions and sleeplessness with certain sleep-related presentations, while its physicians assess causes, symptoms, constitution, digestive capacity, mental state, food habits and other individual factors before determining appropriate care. This makes the Program relevant to those seeking an individualised Ayurvedic approach to disturbed sleep rather than a uniform wellness routine. Support healthier sleep patterns, relaxation and overall physical and mental wellbeing, while addressing individual factors that may contribute to sleep disturbance. Its broader Ayurvedic orientation encourages balanced health practices, including dietary guidance and appropriate lifestyle habits, with food prepared according to Ayurvedic principles and adapted to guests’ health requirements during treatment. The longer-term objective is to help establish sustainable routines that can support wellbeing beyond the retreat period and reduce factors associated with recurring sleep difficulties. Care is individually determined following a detailed consultation and clinical assessment by the Ayurvedic physician, with the resulting plan shaped around the guest’s Prakriti, Vikriti, health condition, age, physical strength and specific therapeutic goals. Note: All treatments and program components are personalised following the initial consultation with the retreat's Ayurveda doctor and the guest's health condition. The therapeutic objective is to reduce joint discomfort, support mobility and functional wellbeing, and promote better physical balance, while addressing the individual health factors associated with the condition. I stayed at Nikki's Nest for 7 days with a group of 9 other women on a yoga retreat with our own yoga teacher. Immediately we felt welcomed as we arrived. The whole Ayurvedic experience was new to us so I have nothing to compare it to, but the treatments were an eye-opener as they are totally different to anything we might experience in the west. We were shocked we were stark naked for the treatments until we found out we could ask for a muslin thong/cloth which helped some of us more shy people feel a bit more relaxed. The treatments were amazing, totally relaxing for the nervous system. We practised morning yoga in the space by the pool which was a great area, but the pool area is a little 'tired'. Evening yoga was in the yoga shala which is a beautiful space. The rooms are also a little tired, our air conditioner broke but staff came immediately to fix it. The food was fantastic, but, after also reading other reviews, there was chocolate lava cake etc. which must have been full of sugar and not really in the Ayurvedic diet? The curries, breads and staff excellent. We also met Nikki who was very gracious and welcoming. One evening we enjoyed some traditional dancing which was very well presented in the garden. I did attend a yoga class with the resident teacher and found I may have injured myself if I wasn't a qualified teacher myself and knew how to choose a different option to some of the poses. The teacher wasn't very welcoming and even turned a friend away from one class as she had eaten 2 hours before the class and not left a 3 hour gap. I felt this was a bit harsh at a resort as opposed to a strict yoga training center. We were woken at 5.30am from chiming bells at the temple below but to be honest we had to be awake soon after for our morning yoga class so this didn't bother us too much. The temple at the bottom of the road is creating a lot of traffic and noise, but the statue of Shiva is incredible, as is the cave below with Goddess sculptures in the cave walls. There are some shops up the road and quite a few of our group went to the tailor and had a number of items made! All in all we came away with wonderful memories and feeling totally relaxed.

I spent 9 divine days in this place of healing. The medical team is competent, the follow-up is very good and the care adapted to each person. I can testify that a good Ayurvedic treatment heals in a different way than in the West, and that the results are visible! The place is located by the ocean, you can walk there or occasionally take a small excursion around. Special mention to the chef in the kitchen who delights guests with lots of variety. I recommend this place, trying if possible to stay there at least 15 days.
