More about Ayurvie Weligama

At Ayurvie Weligama, the dining experience is a core element of the resort’s holistic approach to wellness. Every meal is thoughtfully prepared to support the Ayurvedic healing process, offering nourishment that is both flavourful and functional.

The resort’s ocean-facing restaurant, Aahara, is a serene culinary destination where guests enjoy a variety of carefully curated vegetarian dishes, crafted using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce. Where possible, ingredients are handpicked from the resort’s own organic garden, ensuring purity and freshness in every bite. Each meal is personalized based on the guest’s Dosha constitution—Vata, Pitta, or Kapha—determined through initial Ayurvedic consultation. This tailored approach ensures that food not only pleases the palate but also promotes internal harmony, digestion, and healing.

Aahara’s menus are rich in nutrients, free from preservatives and artificial additives, and designed to detoxify, energize, and rejuvenate the body. The culinary team brings innovation and creativity to traditional Ayurvedic cooking, resulting in dishes that are both wholesome and indulgent.

Complementing the dining experience is Arishta, Ayurvie Weligama’s dedicated herbal beverage bar. Here, guests can choose from a wide selection of herbal-infused teas, detox elixirs, and freshly pressed juices, each designed to aid digestion, boost immunity, and promote inner balance. Beverages are available throughout the day and can be customized to suit specific health needs or Dosha types.

In alignment with Ayurvedic principles, the resort maintains a strictly alcohol- and meat-free environment, reinforcing its commitment to a lifestyle of conscious, health-focused living.

Together, Aahara and Arishta offer a dining journey that goes beyond taste—nourishing the body, calming the mind, and uplifting the spirit in harmony with nature.

Ayurvie Weligama offers a serene coastal sanctuary where leisure is interwoven with culture, nature, and mindful living. The resort’s tranquil setting along Sri Lanka’s southern shores creates the perfect backdrop for holistic rejuvenation and immersive exploration. Whether you choose to unwind with a therapeutic Ayurvedic treatment or engage in soulful discovery across the region, each experience is designed to nourish the body and uplift the spirit.

Guests can begin their day with sunrise yoga sessions on the open deck, followed by leisurely walks along Weligama’s golden beaches or peaceful moments in the herbal garden. Ayurvie’s personalized Ayurvedic programs provide an ideal balance of wellness and relaxation, featuring daily treatments curated by experienced physicians.

For those looking to explore the cultural and natural heritage of the area, curated experiences include visits to cinnamon plantations, temples such as the peaceful Bimbarama Temple, and the historic streets of the Galle Fort, a testament to Sri Lanka’s Dutch colonial legacy. Guests can also enjoy surfing in the calm waters of Weligama Bay or embark on a catamaran expedition for a memorable morning of whale watching.

Discover village life through guided explorations in Koggala, where lush mangroves, cinnamon estates, and traditional lifestyles await. Culinary enthusiasts can participate in Ayurvedic cooking demonstrations using locally sourced ingredients, while the in-house tea bar offers a relaxing space to enjoy herbal infusions and elixirs.

For marine enthusiasts, snorkeling in Polhena offers vibrant coral reefs and a glimpse of underwater biodiversity. Leisurely boat rides, village temple visits, and cultural interactions enrich the experience, offering a deeper connection to the soul of southern Sri Lanka.

At Ayurvie Weligama, leisure is not simply about relaxation—it is about discovering joy in simplicity, beauty in tradition, and balance in everyday living. Whether it’s an ocean adventure or a quiet afternoon by the sea, each moment is designed to restore and inspire.

Ayurvie Weligama is a sanctuary of healing where the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda is practiced with devotion, precision, and integrity. Rooted in thousands of years of tradition, the resort offers authentic Ayurvedic treatments, marma therapies, and traditional wellness rituals, all tailored to each guest’s unique body constitution and current state of health. Every program is guided by experienced Ayurvedic doctors and therapists who blend classical knowledge with contemporary understanding, ensuring holistic restoration of the body, mind, and spirit.

The wellness centre at Ayurvie is a tranquil space where the gentle sounds of nature meet the aroma of healing herbs. Here, Ayurveda is not seen merely as a treatment system, but as a way of life that harmonizes the human body with the rhythms of nature. Treatments begin with a detailed consultation to determine one's prakruti (innate constitution) and vikruti (current imbalance), followed by a customized healing regimen. Guests can choose from therapies such as abhyanga (synchronized oil massage), shirodhara (medicated oil stream on the forehead), pizhichil (oil bath therapy), and more, each designed to detoxify, rejuvenate, and rebalance the doshas—vata, pitta, and kapha.

The Ayurvedic diet at Ayurvie is thoughtfully curated and crafted under the guidance of in-house doctors and nutritionists. Meals are prepared using seasonal, organic produce and healing herbs, often grown in the resort’s own herbal garden. Each dish is designed to nourish the digestive fire (agni), cleanse the system, and support the healing process. Even the drinking water is infused with herbal blends that complement the guest’s treatment plan, subtly promoting internal harmony.

Complementing Ayurveda, the centre also offers yoga, pranayama, and meditation sessions—time-honored practices that deepen the healing experience. Conducted by trained instructors, these sessions help enhance vitality, improve flexibility, and cultivate mental clarity. Special focus is given to breathwork and mindfulness, anchoring guests in the present and encouraging a deeper connection with themselves.

Marma Chikitsa, an ancient form of energy point therapy integral to Kalaripayattu and Ayurveda, is another highlight of the wellness offerings. These treatments work on vital energy points throughout the body to release blockages, restore prana (life force), and address a wide range of physical and neurological conditions. When combined with Ayurvedic massage and herbal oils, marma therapy becomes a powerful tool for healing and rejuvenation.

Ayurvie Weligama also integrates elements of naturopathy, drawing from the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space—to restore the body’s inherent healing capabilities. These therapies involve hydrotherapy, mud packs, sun baths, and lifestyle regulation practices that help eliminate toxins and elevate overall vitality.

From personalized wellness consultations to signature rejuvenation, anti-stress, and detox programs, Ayurvie Weligama offers a complete wellness journey that is both transformative and deeply rooted in Sri Lanka’s healing traditions. Here, every aspect of the experience is designed to support inner harmony, physical health, and emotional balance, making it a destination for those seeking not just a retreat, but a profound return to self.

Weight Management

Central to Ayurvedic philosophy is the concept of doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – which represent different combinations of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) present in each individual. According to Ayurveda, imbalances in these doshas can contribute to weight gain and other health issues. To address weight management concerns, Ayurveda advocates for personalized approaches tailored to an individual's unique constitution, or Prakriti. By identifying one's dominant dosha and understanding its influence on their physical and mental attributes, Ayurvedic practitioners can recommend specific dietary guidelines, lifestyle modifications, and herbal supplements to restore balance and support weight loss. Dietary adjustments in Ayurvedic weight management often involve incorporating whole, nutrient-dense foods that align with one's dosha. For example, those with a predominantly Kapha constitution may benefit from lighter, spicier foods to stimulate metabolism, while individuals with a Pitta imbalance might focus on cooling, hydrating foods to soothe inflammation and aid digestion. In addition to dietary changes, lifestyle modifications play a crucial role in Ayurvedic weight management. Practices such as mindful eating, regular exercise tailored to one's dosha, stress reduction techniques like yoga and meditation, and adequate sleep are emphasized to promote overall well-being and sustainable weight loss. Furthermore, Ayurvedic herbs and formulations are often utilized to support the body's natural detoxification processes, improve digestion, boost metabolism, and enhance energy levels. Commonly used herbs include triphala, guggul, ashwagandha, and turmeric, among others, each chosen for its specific properties and benefits in aiding weight management. Overall, Ayurvedic weight management offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to achieving a healthy weight and promoting overall wellness. By addressing the root causes of weight gain and restoring balance within the body, Ayurveda supports individuals in reaching their weight loss goals while nurturing their physical, mental, and spiritual health for long-term vitality and well-being.

Additionally, dietary modifications and lifestyle recommendations are integral components of Panchakarma, aiming to support the body's detoxification process and promote long-term well-being. Beyond its physical benefits, Panchakarma is renowned for its profound effects on mental and emotional health. Very nice experience. Very nice place. Very nice pool with a wonderful view. Very good food and very pleasant treatments. Staff very friendly and attentive. Yoga is for beginners. I would have preferred to have the opportunity to attend more advanced classes. For those who already do yoga it is not very useful.

Very nice Ayurveda hotel . Ideal for relaxing and shutting down. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The Ayurveda treatments are great. My therapist Kumari has massaged away my nude pain... here too, the friendly and devoted manner of all therapists and also of the three doctors (one speaks German) is particularly noteworthy. Last but not least is the excellent and varied cuisine. Thanks to the wonderful Mali Weidner for leading me to this great place
