Rajah Eco Beach is an Ayurvedic treatment centre and coastal wellness property in Akalad, Thrissur, Kerala, established in 2018 as the fourth centre of the Rajah Ayurveda Hospitals Group. The property is situated in a quiet seaside environment close to Akalad Beach, with the official centre profile recording an area of 20 acres, 74 cottages/rooms, a maximum capacity of 120 patients and approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of built-up area. The nearest major airport is Cochin International Airport (COK), approximately 86 km away. The property focuses on overall healing and rejuvenation, combining structured Ayurvedic care with a natural coastal setting. Rajah Eco Beach forms part of the wider Rajah Ayurveda network, which also operates Rajah Healthy Acres, Rajah Island and Rajah Beach.
The property is positioned around a treatment-centred model rather than a conventional leisure resort. Its clinical infrastructure includes dedicated consultation and treatment facilities, Ayurvedic medicines and oils supplied through the group's manufacturing facility at Rajah Healthy Acres, doctor-supervised treatments, personalised dietary planning, yoga and meditation.
Property Design and Landscape
Rajah Eco Beach is designed around a spacious coastal landscape combining treatment infrastructure, accommodation areas, gardens and outdoor relaxation spaces. The official property information records 20 acres and describes the ambience as a virgin beach setting. The wider property layout includes a principal three-storey residential building, a smaller two-storey accommodation building and separate structures positioned nearer the shoreline. A treatment block is located alongside the residential area, while the grounds incorporate a yoga area, swimming pool, orchard and rainwater collection pond.
The landscape retains a strong connection with tropical vegetation and the coast. The property orchard contains mango trees, papaya shrubs and a substantial pineapple plantation, while the rainwater collection pond is used to store rainwater for garden irrigation. A large freshwater swimming pool measuring 22 × 15 metres, together with a smaller pool, is recorded in the wider Rajah Eco Beach information, with surrounding areas containing loungers, umbrellas, hammocks and benches. The treatment block and main residential building are equipped with elevators.
Founders and Ayurvedic Heritage
The heritage of Rajah Eco Beach is directly connected with the Rajah Group, which was established by A. Abdul Kader Sahib in 1935 after he began a business venture in Sri Lanka before the group's operations later moved to India. Rajah Ayurveda was established in 1996 with the objective of extending authentic Ayurvedic healing internationally, beginning with Rajah Healthy Acres. Rajah Eco Beach became the group's fourth Ayurvedic centre in 2018.
The group's Ayurvedic pharmaceutical development is an important part of its heritage. A medicine manufacturing unit was established at Rajah Healthy Acres in 1999, followed by GMP certification in 2003 and ISO certification in 2012. The manufacturing operation was developed to combine traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern production processes and supplies medicines and oils used across the Rajah Ayurveda centres. Rajah Ayurveda's wider philosophy emphasises preserving authentic Ayurvedic principles and integrating them into everyday lifestyle, rather than treating Ayurveda solely as a short-term therapeutic intervention.
Ayurveda Philosophy and Approach
The Ayurvedic approach at Rajah Eco Beach is based on the classical understanding of Vatha, Pitha and Kapha, with health associated with equilibrium between the three doshas and disease understood through their imbalance. The group describes Ayurveda as a system concerned not only with illness but also with maintaining health through constitution-appropriate diet, lifestyle, medicines, therapies and daily habits. Its treatment framework broadly distinguishes Shodhana Chikitsa, represented by Panchakarma cleansing procedures, from Shamana Chikitsa, which focuses on pacifying and managing aggravated doshas.
The centre's approach also extends beyond physical procedures to the relationship between body, mind and lifestyle. Yoga and meditation can form part of treatment according to the patient's condition and compatibility with the prescribed therapies. Dietary control is considered an integral component of treatment, with vegetarian food generally recommended during Ayurvedic care. The wider Rajah Ayurveda model also uses educational counselling following consultation to explain Ayurveda, prescribed medicines, treatments and their intended benefits.
Personalised Treatment Planning
Treatment planning begins with medical consultation and assessment of the individual, rather than assigning identical therapies to people with the same diagnosis. Rajah Ayurveda explains that differences in individual constitution and condition can result in different treatment regimens. Doctors use pulse examination as one component of assessment rather than treating pulse diagnosis as a complete diagnostic method, and other diagnostic tools, including modern investigations where necessary, may also be used. The booking process requests health details or a health summary so that doctors can recommend an appropriate treatment package.
At the property, treatment packages include consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor and daily check-up, with the treatment course determined by the doctors. Following initial consultation, a personalised diet chart is prepared according to the patient's requirements and body constitution. Treatments are generally conducted twice daily, with the current Rajah Eco Beach clinical information describing a main procedure of approximately one hour and a secondary localised treatment of 30–45 minutes, giving an overall treatment duration of roughly 1.5–2 hours per day.
Treatment Programs
The core Ayurvedic program portfolio publicly associated with Rajah Eco Beach includes Body Detox (Panchakarma), Immune Boost and Weight Loss, alongside condition-focused Ayurvedic treatment. The published clinical portfolio includes care relating to diabetes, obesity, gastric ulcers, infertility, asthma, back pain, eye disorders, dystonia, hemiplegia, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders, sclerosis, peripheral neuritis, nervous system disorders, psoriasis and other skin conditions, rheumatic joint pain and rheumatoid arthritis, among other conditions. The published list is expressly non-exhaustive.
The hospital's documented therapeutic services include the complete Panchakarma framework of Poorva Karmam, Pradhana Karmam and Paschat Karmam, incorporating Snehana, Swedana, Rookshana, Ama-pachanam, Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Anuvasana Vasti, Asthapana Vasti, Rasayana Chikitsa, Samana Chikitsa and Samsarjana Karmam. Special procedures include Kativasti, Matravasti, Mukhalepam, Navarakizhi, Parisheka Swedam, Pathrapinda Swedam, Pichu, Pizhichil, Shirovasti, Shirodhara, Udwarthanam, Upanaha Swedam and Valuka Swedam.
Doctors and Wellness Experts
The Rajah Eco Beach medical establishment is described as comprising eight Ayurvedic doctors and 40 therapists, supported by dedicated consultation and treatment infrastructure. The treatment block contains three doctors' consultation rooms, an Ayurvedic pharmacy and medicine kitchen, 15 treatment rooms and a relaxation area. Medicines and oils used in treatment are produced through the Rajah Ayurveda manufacturing facility at Rajah Healthy Acres.
Post Treatment Care
Rajah Ayurveda places continuing diet and lifestyle discipline alongside the treatment course. Guests are advised to prepare for treatment by avoiding smoking and alcohol and following a vegetarian diet for at least two weeks before treatment, while post-treatment diet and lifestyle changes should follow the treating doctor's recommendations. Guests are also advised to complete other travel within India before beginning treatment because travelling immediately after treatment may interfere with the therapeutic process.
Guests are expected to bring relevant medical reports and disclose regular medicines or food supplements so that changes can be discussed with the doctor. Major Ayurvedic treatments are not undertaken during menstruation. During treatment, alcohol, smoking, tea and coffee are to be avoided, physical and mental exertion should be minimised, and sexual intercourse is advised against. Yoga, meditation and post-treatment lifestyle guidance are incorporated according to individual compatibility and medical advice.
Accommodation
Rajah Eco Beach provides accommodation within a 74-room/cottage property with a maximum stated capacity of 120 patients. The accommodation environment is distributed across the principal residential building, a smaller residential block and separate structures positioned closer to the beach, allowing different levels of accommodation within the same treatment-oriented campus. The property-level accommodation model therefore combines conventional residential facilities with more independent coastal structures while retaining access to the central treatment and dining areas.
Diet and Dining
Dining at Rajah Eco Beach is integrated into the Ayurvedic treatment process. The restaurant provides vegetarian food tailored to the dietary recommendations of the treating doctors, with food determined according to individual constitution and treatment requirements. The property information also records that a significant proportion of ingredients are sourced from the resort's own orchards and vegetable and fruit plantations.
The daily routine provides a structured nutritional rhythm around treatment. Internal medicines are given at 6.00 am, followed by morning juice or herbal tea and breakfast between approximately 7.00 and 9.00 am. Juice is provided at 11.00 am, lunch takes place from 12.30–2.00 pm, and herbal tea or juice with Indian snacks is provided at 4.00 pm. Dinner is scheduled from 7.00–9.00 pm, with the day's dietary requirements adjusted according to medical recommendations.
Wellness Activities
Yoga and meditation are integrated into the treatment routine, with sessions scheduled twice daily. The standard timetable places the morning yoga session from 6.30–7.30 am and the evening session from 5.00–6.00 pm, although the exact routine may be modified by doctors according to treatment requirements. The centre also provides a yoga area within the property and encourages a calm daily rhythm built around therapy, rest and controlled activity.
Leisure activities are deliberately compatible with a treatment-centred stay. The property provides a library, cooking demonstrations, bicycles and recreational activities including carrom, chess and cards. Cultural evenings may feature Kathakali, Kalaripayattu, South Indian classical dance and classical music. Short excursions and visits to other Rajah Ayurveda properties can also be arranged. The broader schedule includes major Ayurvedic treatment between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm and minor treatment between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm, followed by a 9.30 pm bedtime.
Facilities and Services
The clinical infrastructure includes three consultation rooms, 15 treatment rooms, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, medicine kitchen and relaxation area, supported by doctors and therapists. Additional services documented for the hospital include dietary services, preventive medicine or Swasthavritta, yoga, pharmacy, patient advisory services, dietetic services, housekeeping, administration and medical records. The property also provides a swimming pool, orchard, rainwater collection pond, yoga area, library and outdoor relaxation spaces.
The documented service limitations are clinically important. The hospital does not serve patients requiring tertiary care, emergency services, care for life-threatening conditions such as renal failure or unstable cardiac conditions, highly infectious disease management, obstetric care, infant treatment, surgical or para-surgical procedures, Salakya Chikitsa except sirogas, or psychiatric care requiring physical or chemical restraint. These exclusions define the scope within which Ayurvedic treatment is provided.
Sustainability and Guest Guidelines
Rajah Eco Beach incorporates a rainwater collection pond used for storing water and supporting garden irrigation, while its orchard and planted areas contribute to the property's nature-oriented setting.
Guest Experience and Stay Approach
The Rajah Eco Beach stay is structured around doctor-led Ayurveda rather than conventional resort activity. Treatment packages include accommodation, consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor and daily check-up, Ayurvedic treatments determined by the doctors, and food prescribed according to the guest's body constitution.
Dining at Rajah Eco Beach Ayurvedic Hospital is closely integrated with the Ayurvedic treatment process, with meals planned according to each guest’s body constitution, health condition, digestive capacity and treatment requirements. The restaurant serves vegetarian cuisine, with breakfast, lunch, evening refreshments, fresh juices and dinner structured around the daily treatment schedule. Dietary recommendations are made by the Ayurvedic doctors, ensuring that food complements the prescribed therapies rather than functioning simply as conventional resort dining.
The cuisine follows a simple, traditional and easily digestible Ayurvedic approach, with mild flavours and carefully selected ingredients intended to support the treatment process. Fresh produce forms an important part of the dining experience, with many ingredients sourced from the property’s own orchards and vegetable and fruit plantations. The daily routine includes morning juice or herbal tea, doctor-advised vegetarian breakfast, mid-morning juice, vegetarian lunch, afternoon herbal tea or juice with Indian snacks, and doctor-advised vegetarian dinner. This structured approach allows nutrition, medication and therapies to work together within the overall Ayurvedic healing routine.
The dining experience remains purposeful and treatment-oriented, with food choices adjusted according to individual medical recommendations. The emphasis is on nourishing the body while maintaining digestive comfort and supporting the requirements of Ayurvedic therapy, making dining an integral component of the overall wellness stay rather than a separate hospitality service.
Leisure at Rajah Eco Beach Ayurvedic Hospital is centred on tranquillity, gentle activity and connection with the coastal surroundings, complementing the structured Ayurvedic treatment routine. The property extends along a mile-long pristine beach near Akalad, surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, coconut palms and coastal greenery, creating a naturally peaceful setting for shoreline walks, quiet relaxation and time in nature.
Within the property, guests can relax around the swimming pool, explore the mango, papaya and pineapple orchard, or spend quiet time beside the rainwater collection pond, which also supports garden irrigation. Bicycles provide a gentle way to explore the surroundings, while indoor leisure includes carrom, chess, cards and reading. The library contains books in several languages covering fiction, philosophy, yoga, Ayurveda and cooking, and cooking demonstrations introduce guests to healthy Indian cuisine.
Selected evenings provide a cultural dimension through Kathakali, Kalaripayattu, South Indian classical dance and classical music performances, offering an introduction to Kerala's traditional arts without disrupting the calm treatment environment. Short excursions to nearby towns and visits to other Rajah Ayurveda Group properties can also be arranged, giving guests additional opportunities for gentle exploration while keeping leisure compatible with the restorative nature of an Ayurvedic stay.

At Rajah Eco Beach Ayurvedic Hospital, the focus remains on delivering Ayurvedic care with consistency, authenticity and a structured approach to quality. The centre reflects the Rajah Group’s longstanding commitment to maintaining traditional treatment standards while ensuring reliability in every aspect of the guest experience.
Supported by the group’s in house Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing facility, which operates under GMP certification, the treatments benefit from controlled preparation processes, standardised formulations and a strong emphasis on purity and effectiveness. This integration of classical knowledge with quality-driven systems helps ensure that therapies are delivered with both authenticity and consistency.
The overall approach prioritises disciplined treatment protocols, experienced medical guidance and a well-managed therapeutic environment. Together, these elements create a setting where guests can experience the rejuvenating potential of Ayurveda within a framework that values both tradition and operational excellence.
