The modern day lifestyle of abundance of food coupled with sedentary screen glued automated routine has resulted in a sequence of diseases termed as Lifestyle Disorders or Non Communicable Diseases of which obesity stands out as one of the most evident one. Obesity is termed as Sthoulya and Atisthoulya in Ayurveda and is a category of Medoroga (disease of the lipid components of the body). WHO standards for Obesity diagnosis is BMI (Body Mass Index) above 30. BMI of 25-29.9 says the person is overweight. -

Ayurveda External Therapy for Obesity
Synchronized oil massage with fat reducing oils (Abhyanga)
Body irrigation or Kashayadhara with herbal decoctions
Herbal steam bath
Herbal powder or leaves poultices or Kizhi
Yoga for Obesity
Suryanamaskara, Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana, Shalabasana, Padahastasana, Pavanamuktasana, Trikonasana and Vakrasana are a few simple obesity regulating Yoga postures. Pranayama is also good. -

Harivihar is a little gem, a wonderful and peaceful place. All the staff is nice, smiling and welcoming. They take care of the guests without being intrusive in any way and willing to accommodate all their requests. The food is delucious and the Ayurvedic treatments are professional and effective. There is the possibility of doing yoga in a dedicated room or pleasantly on the grass in the garden. A place I would gladly return to. Sincere thanks to Dr Srikumar, Amith and all the team of Harivihar.
